The Thames Turbo Club Championship Races 2009

Below are the races for this years Thames Turbo Club Championships. They are similar to last years but with one substantial improvement in the Sprint Race. All races are local. Club members are encouraged to include them in their race plans even if only as part of summer training. The championships are intended for ALL Turbos and is definitely not just for the ‘faster athletes’.

Although there can of course only be one mens and one ladies champion in each race, we will also have a roll of honour for age group and other outstanding performances. It’s a great opportunity for a big Club turn-out and a chance to beat some close rivals. The Thames Turbo race team will be out in force for these races.

Just enter the races in the normal way and make sure you register as Thames Turbo. The Club Captains will then analyse the results and keep a record of who’s won what.

Duathlon National Championships held at Emberton Country Park on 5th April.

Sprint Distance: The second event will be at Eton (the week after the Supersprints) on Saturday May 23rd. NB this race has only just been agreed (Our commitment has been a part of the process) and is not on the Human Race site yet, it soon will be. The race will be a Half Olympic/Full Distance Sprint 750m/20K/5K

We have agreed with Human race that we will have or own wave/waves, based on a minimum of 20 for a wave. This means that we will all race together. It will be an impressive sight seeing a mass or blue and red emerging from T1. The race in wave format is also being offered to other clubs on the same format.

Turbo members see the full version of this post under races for more entry information.

Olympic Distance Club Champs would be the London Triathlon on August 2nd.
Dion has agreed to work with the race organisers to consider a Turbo Wave and we will know how this will work nearer the time. Meanwhile all members should enter in their age category. When all is in place, Dion will post to arrange the appropriate changes.

Half Ironman and Ironman; The captains will assess performance across any races entered in these two categories and award the Club prize according to relative Turbo performance (ie % performance calculated by position combined with number of athletes participating).

National Team Relay Triathlon Championships take place at Holme Pierrepoint on 22nd August. This is not part of our Club Champs but it is one of the big racing and social outings of the year. Prepare to arrive at the camp site on Friday, race during the day on Saturday and dance till you drop on Saturday night.

Last Years Final Honours Board is attached. See that over 90 Turbos competed in the championships and that there were many champions. This year we are looking to double that number.
