Meet the Committee

Your Committee, and other Turbo Support Teams 2011/12

Chairman: Ben Unsworth - chairman@thamesturbo.co.uk Thames Turbo is a large and busy club serving a very wide spectrum of nearly 400 members, from those at the top of the game through to a thriving youth section. To keep the club moving and ‘ahead of the game’ we have a large elected committee and support structure. It is my pleasure to introduce the new committee and a number of significant others to you for the  for 2010/11 season.

Treasurer: David Thomas - treasurer@thamesturbo.co.uk David looks after our large turn over, makes projections on our financial stability and future, advises the committee. He pays the bills (a very large number), checks that you are paying yours, looks after facilities and bookings, works with the bank and keeps our accounts.

Club Secretary: Jeff Grimes  - secretary@thamesturbo.co.uk Jeff is the formal face of the club, corresponding with a wide range of people, sorting out affiliations, memberships, insurances and bookings. Acts as scribe and keeps all the records.

Senior membership: Janet Ditchfield - membership@thamesturbo.co.uk
Lifeblood of the club. Responds to a large number of enquiries, meeting and greeting, keeping on top of the trialists and processing memberships on a weekly basis. The big job is to process the annual renewals to which you will all respond promptly!

Junior membership: Helen Lewis - youthmembership@thamesturbo.co.uk
As above but for our now flourishing Youth section (8-16 yrs) with a substantial waiting list.

Race Director: Hugo Woddis - race_director@thamesturbo.co.uk All things race, and it is not possible to even begin listing them here. Just imagine what you think might need to be done then multiply by 10 and add a few challenges. Heather Heads Up the Race Team Committee. We ask two things of all members enjoy the racing and make sure your marshal at as many races as you can. Thames Turbo as we know it is based on this work.

Sponsorship: Jon Heasman (Supported by Ali Griffiths)  sponsorship@thamesturbo.co.uk The club is keen to promote the sport of Triathlon in it’s widest sense and are keen to work with a selected number of partners.

Welfare Officer: Chad Newton - welfare@thamesturbo.co.uk This is an essential role in the realm of child protection. Chad is responsible for ensuring that our youth section are looked after to the highest standards.

Kit: Jennie Male/Richard Gower - kit@thamesturbo.co.uk You bought it from Jennie and you will have seen the amount of posting, chasing, sorting, sizing etc that she gets involved in. Behind the scenes Richard works tirelessly with our suppliers, brokering deals, checking quality sourcing suppliers. It is no accident that we have the best kit on the block.

Health & Safety: Anton Jeffery Heads up the clubs responsibilities in this area, Risk assessments, legislation and advice to the committee

Web: Roger Barr - webmaster@thamesturbo.co.uk Anything online. Responsible for the website, members only forum, race online entry system…..anything online and club related really. Probably the greatest human being on the planet and hasn’t been responsible for writing this sentence.

Head Coach: Michael Holden - mickieholden@btinternet.com Mike is responsible for all coached training sessions across the club, the recruitment, organisation and deployment of our coaches, coach training and chairing coaches meetings.

PR: Jennie Male press_publicity@thamesturbo.co.uk.  Jennie also looks after communicating all the latest news from the club to all the triathlon-related and regional media. If you have any great race results or reports you’d like to share, please email her with the story and any pictures you’d like to include. 

Youth Section Rep: Sally Rowe Sally represents the views of the youth and juniors to the committee. She has an overall view of the direction of this section of the club.

Social Secretary: Sophie Frame - social_sec@thamesturbo.co.uk
Sophie leads the planning for the events of the year - BBQ’s, informal races, End of Seaason Awards and the annual trip to the Club Championship Relays in Nottingham.

Men’s & Ladies Team Captains: Peter Stewart and Liz Pinches:ladies_captain@thamesturbo.co.uk &  mens_captain@thamesturbo.co.uk The Club Captains are responsible for drumming up support for races, particularly the Club Champs and National Relays, Sorting out teams, posting, encouraging and working on the stats.

Race Team Manager: Martin Hollywood raceteam@thamesturbo.co.uk : Work on schedules, logistics, sponsorship, planning and all things race team. The Thames Turbo PowerBar race team put Thames Turbo ‘on the map’ raising our profile and contributing to the genuine claim that we are the Premiere Triathlon Club in the UK.
